Teaching Tips

From experienced special education teachers across Nepal.

01
Start with student names
Have each student learn to spell their own name in both Braille and Sign Language first. Personal connection makes retention much stronger and motivates continued practice.
02
5 minutes every day
Short daily practice beats long weekly sessions. Even 5 minutes of fingerspelling warm-up at the start of class creates dramatic improvement within 2–3 weeks.
03
Pair sighted with blind students
Partner activities where sighted students learn Braille and blind students teach back creates empathy and natural cross-learning. The teaching student retains far more.
04
Make it a game
Use the quiz on SanketSiksha as a class competition on a projector. Students love the immediate feedback and the competitive element drives engagement dramatically.
05
Involve families
Send the family guide home in Nepali. When parents practice even 5 letters at dinner, student progress accelerates significantly. Home reinforcement is crucial.
06
Celebrate every milestone
Celebrate when a student masters 5 letters, then 10, then the full alphabet. Small certificates, class applause, and recognition matter enormously to young learners.
