⠿ Braille — Learn First

Six dots that changed
the world.

Braille is a writing system using raised dots. Each letter is a unique pattern of up to 6 dots arranged in a 2×3 grid. Click any dot below to explore.

The 6 dots are numbered 1–6, top to bottom, left column first. Every letter, number, and punctuation in Braille is a combination of these 6 positions. There are 64 possible combinations.

Louis Braille invented this system in 1824 at age 15. He was blind himself, frustrated by the clumsy embossed letters used at the time, and created a system elegant enough to fit under a single fingertip.

🤟 Nepali Sign Language

Every hand shape
tells a story.

Nepali Sign Language (NSL) uses hand shapes, movement, and facial expressions. Below is the NSL fingerspelling alphabet — one hand shape per letter.

Fingerspelling:
your first step.

Fingerspelling lets you spell out any word using hand shapes for each letter. It's the foundation of sign language — once you know the alphabet, you can communicate any word, name, or idea.

NSL has its own unique hand shapes distinct from ASL or BSL. Learning NSL fingerspelling connects you directly with Nepal's deaf community.

Did you know?

Nepal has an estimated 32,000+ deaf individuals. NSL became officially recognized in Nepal's constitution in 2015 — but resources to learn it remain extremely scarce.
